Disaster Preparedness Concern Survey

(Protect your family and Estate in the event of a
Hurricane, Fire, Flood, Earthquake, or other Emergency Situation)

Please take the following Concern Survey.
To help you visualize a very real threat that you could be faced with, we have described a situation below that many have experienced in the past. Unfortunately, most were not prepared. We hope that by taking our Concern Survey and thinking about the consequences of this and other challenging and potentially disastrous events, you will learn from the mistakes of others, and you will be motivated to take the necessary steps to be prepared. Events like this have happened before, and unfortunately, they will happen again.

A major storm, hurricane, or tornado has just passed through your town. To make matters worse, there’s been significant flooding in the area. Devastation and destruction are everywhere. Some homes have been completely leveled. Trees and power lines are down, and in many areas the tree branches and debris are a foot deep. Lightning strikes and gas leaks are responsible for a number of buildings having burned to the ground.

Your home is in shambles, …what’s left of it, that is. Thankfully your family is safe, but you are in a state of shock. You know this has happened to other people before because you’ve seen it reported on TV news programs or read about it in the newspaper or on social media. But you never imagined it would happen to you. Somehow you never believed it could happen to your family!

You may not realize it right away, but you are in for a major disruption to your life and your lifestyle, and this unwelcome disruption will last longer than you’d think. You’re worried not only about your immediate future, but about what’s in store for you over the next few years. You remember hearing about other disasters like this and how some people were still fighting with their insurance company two years after the disaster event. Hurricane Sandy is just one recent example. Many of those traumatized people paid their premiums faithfully for years, but when actually faced with the aftermath of a disaster, they learned they wouldn’t get the insurance reimbursement they planned on. Unbelievably, they learned they wouldn’t be getting the insurance money they now needed to put their home, family, and life back to normal, … or in order to get the insurance money they deserved, they’d have to fight for it.

You recall all of those TV commercials and billboards with attorneys barking, “Insurance Claim Denied? Call me!” Overwhelmed and upset, you wonder if you’ll have to hire an attorney too, and you fear it could take years before your insurance claim is resolved. You think to yourself, “Wow, if there’s a court battle, the lawyer’s fees will take a big portion of the reimbursement award that I get from the insurance company. That won’t leave me enough to rebuild my house and replace my furniture! And the time factor will be brutal. What do we do in the meantime and where will we live? Also, since my documentation was destroyed in the disaster, how do I know a court will even award me any insurance reimbursement money?”

You too have diligently paid your insurance premiums every year, year after year, so that you would be covered for such a disastrous event as this. But you too neglected to read the fine print regarding the need for documentation! And due to the sheer number of people affected by this disaster, it’s clear that you’ll want to get your insurance claim filed asap so you’re in front of the “Claims Line”, instead of in the back.

Then the cold, cruel reality sets in. Getting your claim submitted to the insurance company fast isn’t likely to happen because your home has been destroyed or the area is quarantined, or you never created a home inventory. And even if you did have a home inventory, it was destroyed in the disaster!

What if a major disaster, theft, or tragedy happened to you right now?

Yes, today. Would you be prepared?

In the survey below, we have listed some of the most important areas of concern, and those areas most often overlooked when dealing with the aftermath of a disaster.

Please take a few moments and evaluate your level of concern for each of the items listed below. Do not be surprised if you have not considered some of these items before and have concerns about them. Neither did many of the people who have suffered through major loss events. Help is on the way, and the solution is easier than you think.

Disaster Preparedness Concern Survey

If you have a loss, are you aware that not only will you be required to submit a detailed inventory, but that a lack of supporting documentation in your claim could significantly reduce the amount your insurance company will reimburse you?
Are you aware that insurance companies do not automatically pay the coverage limit, but instead pay the substantiated value of the documented items lost?
Are you aware that after a major loss, most people are so devastated, that doing the paperwork for an insurance claim is not only painful, time-consuming, and physically draining, but that it often takes 2 or more months to complete?
If you are not prepared with a previously completed inventory & documentation, will having to wait a significant amount of time for your insurance claim to be paid due to other claims having been submitted before yours frustrate you?
Will this delay in the timely submission of your claim impact how soon you and your family can put your lives back together?
Are you aware most claims are submitted with many items omitted because they were forgotten? Would you or a family member doing the claim for you be assured of remembering everything lost or destroyed in a disaster without documentation?
Would not having your home accessible after a major loss due to your neighborhood being deemed an unsafe area cause you a delay in the completion of your insurance claim?
